Water Resource Specialists
This Aerator sets new standards in the removal of iron from water. It is particularly suited for use where large volumes of water require treating for farms, horticulture blocks, industrial users, households and many more applications
Removal of iron - up to 10 p.p.m.
Highly efficient - up to 8,000 l.p.h.
Compact design - economic operation.
Designed for low maintenance.
Can be supplied with fully automatic backflushing.
Able to be installed on any concrete tank - although some may require a central internal support.
This unit will give years of service and is made from long lasting fibreglass.
How It Works
The water to be treated passes through a series of spray nozzles at sufficient pressure in the top compartment to be atomised. This exposes the iron to the oxygen in the air, which then allows it to be precipitate out of the water. The water then passes through a special sand filtering medium in the bottom compartment leaving the iron sludge in the top layer - this is washed out by backflushing at regular intervals.
Nozzle And Pressure Selection
From the chart below the pressure and quantity of water to be treated can be selected and the required number of nozzles then arrived at. This then determines the size of the unit required.
The optimum pressure is within the 10 - 20 m Head range
Some pump performances are referred to in g.p.h. therefore two nozzles at 38 l.p.m. = 500 g.p.h

Backwashing Requirements
This will vary according to the amount of iron to be removed. The golden rule should be for short periods, at frequent intervals. The following chart is a guide only an should be used to assist in selecting an approximate time cycle which should then be adjusted by experience. If the water from the waste pipe is very rusty you should decrease the intervals until it appears at the start to be only a creamy colour, The time for the water to clear should be a maximum of five minutes.

To backflush unit use a minimum pump capacity of 410 l.p.m. at a head of 6m capacity or equivalent.
